Geltsdale and Northumberland

For the first time in almost ten years of my involvement with Hen Harriers at Geltsdale we have a fledged chick.  The young bird, the only one of a clutch of five eggs to hatch, flew twice this week during my eight hour session at the hut.  The mist was coming and going from the area all day long as I viewed from here.  And finally sunshine !

A day on the Northumberland coast this week was rewarding as ever with nice views of Black Tern at QE2 Country Park.

The White-rumped Sandpiper at Amble showed well although distantly and a moulting adult Curlew Sandpiper was nearby.  More Curlew Sandpipers and two Little Stints were at Druridge Pools.
